Can americans work at Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas?

I just recently got back from a trip to Atlantis and I was wondering if americans are able to work at the resort. I'm studying marine biology in college. I think it would be a lot of fun to work at dolphin cay. I also would really like to move there in the future. Is this possible?

You would have to obtain a work permit . Many businesses would rather hire Bahamians than Americans because they feel as though we are coming and taking all there jobs. But this does not apply as much to the hotel industry . Atlantis would prefer american workers. I have allot of friends who work in the hotels and a four who have worked with Dolphin Encounters. It seems as though you being in Marine Biology in college might help you secure a job you will enjoy. But as I always say vacationing here and living here are two very different stories. I would say consider the whole picture before making a move. The Atlantis area also known as Paradise Island is a small picture of what Nassau is really like. Crime here is getting worse each and everyday . Just last month we had six murders in one week. Housing in Nassau in nothing like the states .They don't have large apartment complexes just small amounts of units in one location. If you want a nice 1 bedroom with everything in it that isn't a dump you will be paying over 800 bucks a month. Not including all of your other expenses. Electricity here is very expensive. Gas is staying around 4.15 - 4.20 a gallon . To start off here requires a good amount of money . Food is expensive. Also I almost forgot the local electricity company is not equipped to supply electricity to the entire island so there is always blackouts and your light can be off from a half hour to all night . And with the heat here it can be unbearable. You would have to buy bottled water which you can have delivered which is cheap . Thank goodness. :) In the 4 years i have lived here Nassau has gotten worse and does seem to be getting better . My husband is Bahamian and has echoed my same sentiments so we along with allot of other friends have decided to go back to the states because this place is getting crazy. I wish you the best whatever your choice may be.
