Why are airline tickets so much more expensive than a cruise?
Round-trip plane tickets from Miami to Cozumel are like $500. A round-trip cruise is about the same price! WHY??? Planes and ships use lots of fuel, but cruise ships have to provide excellent food, entertainment, and pay for hundreds of staff on board for like 5 days, whereas a flight is super short, doesn't provide anything, basically, and while they do have to pay a lot of support staff, the ratio can't be that much greater than on a cruise ship, can it? I mean, cruise ships have lots of support staff, too.
So what's the deal? Why is flying so much more expensive than cruising? Honestly, it's cheaper to cruise from Galveston to the Bahamas than to fly. What's up with that???
Planes need vastly more fuel than ships and vastly more maintenance.
