Bahamas Resorts Atlantis
Are there any resorts like the Atlantis Bahamas (activities, pools, etc.) for kids in Cancun or Aruba?
You will find nice resorts in Cancun and Aruba with beautiful big pools but nothing like the magic of Atlantis.
Cancun has some water parks. They also have a wonderful eco archaeological theme park where you can swim with the dolphins, snorkel a underwater cave. Here is a link

Plan a vacation to Atlantis Resort in Bahamas?
I'm planning a 5-nights vacation in August to the Atlantis, is there anyway or anywhere where I can book the trip at a discount price (since I'm booking half a year earlier)? Also any advice or tips for my stay there? Thanks!
I'm from Canada
Hi,
Went there last year and I can really give you the inside scoop! If you want to email me I can send you some great information (I wish I had it sooner). You can use the link in my profile- if you want, send me your email address so I can send you an attachment.
Now with the airlines, I don't think you can book past 90 days- they just changed their rules so I'm not sure your plan will work- good idea though.
If you want to get the very best value, DO NOT stay at the Atlantis- unless you are trying to impress someone and $ is not an issue (FYI- many of the people I saw in the lobby of the Atlantis were complaining anyway- I think that happens when you are paying $600+ a night- your expectations are high) but if $ is not an issue- it is a great property. The nicest of the Hotels under the Atlantis umbrella is called "The Cove- Atlantis." For value thought, stay at the Comfort Suites Paradise Island. It's literally just feet away, across the street and is perfectly fine and 1/2 the cost. I booked using Orbitz- about $1, 700 TOTAL for two for 5 nights and a non stop flight for 2! $1, 700 wont even cover the Atlantis alone. At the CSuites you get free breakfast too- not offered at the Atlantis but they do have a meal plan. Once you are there, you are really not in your room much anyway and the rooms at the CS are bigger than the basic rooms at A and some are newer too. I think its the same owner too- when they brought breakfast, their shirts said Atlantis on them. Literally for the same bagel, I think it was 3x the price to eat it across the street.
Regardless of where you decide to stay, you are going to have a GREAT TIME but you are smart to prepare ahead and ask for tips- I didn't prepare enough. There is a lot you need to know- like where to go, and where NOT to go (over the hill area= bad) and do not walk over the big bridges at night into downtown Nassau- not a good idea- trust me on that one.
Watch out for that sun- I was "Mr. Sunblock" and guess what? When you go in the water, especially the lazy river (goes around Atlantis), it washes off fast...Later that night...."hmmm- I look kind of red!" It can spoil your trip big time. Also wear a big brimmed hat and some type of cloth that covers your neck. Sun poison just makes you feel bad- headache, etc. It can happen in an hour and last for days so you spend $5k and stay in your room...not fun!
Plan your excursions or you will leave without having done any! I can send you the list if you email me.
August will be very H O T so bring a collapsible cooler for your drinks. As hot as it will be, I HIGHLY recommend you buy an O'Neil surf type shirt- they are UV designed to provide sun protection. They are very thin and light- you'll be very happy if you take this tip. You don't realize when you are snorkeler for hours just how exposed your back is. You will be mesmerized by the hundreds of fish that come up to you right off the beach and in that lagoon- tip, it leads directly in/out to the Ocean!
