Cruise To Bahamas From Florida
Do I need a passport to travel to the Bahamas on a cruise from Florida?
I went on a Cruise To The Bahamas last month. I didn't need a passport just birth certificate and photo ID. The law doesn't change for sea travel until the 2008. If you are cruising then you will need one. Papers will be checked before you board and by Immigrations when you return.

Can you go on a cruise from Florida to The Bahamas without a passport?
I am a legal U.S. citizen with a Birth Certificate and all. I live in Florida and have never left the country so I don't have a passport. Since my vacation is in a week and passports take a while to obtain, I was hoping I could go without one.
I am getting mixed answers so I would appreciate a source with a recent date if possible.
Thanks in advance!

To the first answerer: I am going on a cruise. So basically, as long as I have a birth certificate and photo ID I can go with or without a passport?
If you are going on a cruise and are not staying overnight at a resort or anything, you are not required to have a passport....just an ID (driver's license, ect.) and an original birth certificate. Again, this only applies when you are coming into and leaving on the same day, same cruise ship.
