Disney Bahamas Cruise

Which cruise is better? Bahamas, Bermuda, or Caribbean?

I'm a sophmore in college and I'm planning a surprise cruise for my boyfriend, possibly soon to be fiance. Which destination is better? Carribean, Bermuda, or the Bahamas? I'm planning it for June/July of 2010 for approx. 5-9 days.. Should I book now? or wait until it is closer to to next June?I want this to be special and fun for the both of us. My boyfriend is the romantic and fun sort so I was looking into the Carnival and Disney Cruise Lines.

PS: We have been together for 3 years and I believe the closest port of call would be Baltimore

Hi Kat,

What a great idea to surprise your soon-to-be fiance! Congratulations in advance =)
I suggest a cruise to the Caribbean, it's what I've done and it was just incredible! Plenty of sunshine and there was a lot to do (considering your BF is into doing fun things with you, you should find the onboard activities as well as many of the stops available to be exciting.)
There are some rip-offs when it comes to cruises and you'll want to make sure you've checked up on the cruise line before deciding to go with them. You can spend a lot on a cruise when it's not necessary. There are often cruises going extrordinarily low cost...you just need to know where and when to look.
I recommend taking your time to find some cheap Caribbean Cruise Deals online. Researching a bit before putting your money on anything is a good idea as these deals are going all year round.
I hope this helps and all the best with your surprise trip! I bet your BF will be very impressed when he realises what you've done! Have tons of fun!!

Do I and my kids need passports to go on the Disney Cruise out of Florida to the Bahamas?

I want to take my kids on the Disney Cruise but I'm not sure if we need passports and if so how much are they and where do we get passports from? Thank you! (Sorry I'm new to all this travel stuff)

NO!!!!, if you are a US citizen and cruise from and return to the same US port, you do not need a passport to cruise anywhere out of a US port to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Mexico, Bermuda, or Alaska. These type cruises are called "Loop Cruises" . All of the cruise lines and the US Homeland Security people at the cruise ports all follow this procedure. So you do not have to worry about not having a passport as long as your have an original or certified copy of your birth certificates and a photo ID. Disney is going to strongly suggest that you do get passports as it makes it easier to process you through Immigration when you return and also you'll need the passport in case of an emergency where you have to fly back to the US.

Right now it takes about 4 weeks to get a passport and even though you are not required to have one for curses leaving from the US its still a good idea to get one. This web site for the US Passport Office has all of the information you need, including the passport application that you can print and submit. http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html

The process in simple terms:

-Print off the passport application from the web site above.
-Have two passport photos taken; at many travel agencies or an AAA office.
Submit/mail your application to the Passport office along with the required 2 photos and the application fee , include an original or certified copy of your birth certificate.
Processing takes about 4 weeks. You can request and pay for expedited service of about a week; its explained on the web site.
