Disney Cruise Activities

Disney World or Disney Cruise? Have you ever done both? Which did you enjoy more with your family and why?

We've been to Disney World and had a blast! We are planning a family vacay for 1 week in June/July, but we are wondering which is better. Are there a lot of fun activites on the disney cruises as well? I tried to reserach the cruises but I didn't get as much info on the cruise activities as I did on the resorts. My kids are 4 and 6 years old. Do you think the cruise would be as much fun as the resort? Granted that we already did the resort once but we all don't mind doing it again if it's better than the cruise. Thanks a lot :-)

Short answer is that a cruise is a totally different experience than a theme park, regardless of who runs it.

Long answer is well, it depends on what your kids like. Here's some of the activities available for kids: http://allears.net/cruise/g_wonder5.htm

Are your kids super-shy and don't like meeting new people? Then they will have a hard time with the cruise activities. Are they ready to just jump in there and try anything? Then it might be right up their alley.

Being on a cruise ship and doing all the stuff onboard is not really comparable to going from ride to ride all day. You might want to pick up a guidebook or two about Disney cruises, or check your library for a copy. Just because your kids loved Disney World does not necessarily mean they will enjoy a cruise. That being said, Disney is consistently the highest-ranked cruise company.

Planning a disney cruise trip?

I am 19 and I might be going on a Disney cruise with my aunt and 2 cousins. My aunt asked me to research the activities for her two daughters. They are 10 + 11. I looked on the Disney website and the info. they gave was very general. No mention of specific things for them to do. If any of you have done the kids program on one of the cruises or has kids that have done the program could you please provide info on the following
- Amount of kid's only activities
- Fun level
- Can the older kids go in the younger section?
- Did your kids enjoy the designated kids area or the family areas more?
- Specific details about the kids activities

Thanks

Hi!

Just to let you know, I am fairly close to the kids ages.

I am 12. I went on the cruise when I was eleven.

I had a blast and you absolutely have to go on this

cruise with kids or not! My parents always say

that no other cruise ship compared to our Disney cruise

and that it was worth every penny. They are even planning

another Disney cruise, this time, WITHOUT ME!

That is how much fun it is for adults too.

1. There are so many activities for just us.

Since they are 10 and 11 they will be hanging out at

Ocean Quest, which is where i hung out too. It is out of this

world fun! The kids clubs aren't your typical boring

"I wanna get out of here" kids clubs. They give you

so many more fun things then what the usual kids

who do not participate in the kids clubs get to do.

You get special things. Here are the most fun things

I got to do on the ship:
For example, the

clubs for older kids close around 1 a.m... Since they close late,

people are sleeping and most things are closed. The kids club

lets you do things like:

*Get into a restaraunt after dinner hours. You can

cook yourself!

*Have a pizza party...There is a pizzerria in front

of the pool that closes around 11...how about sneeking in

at 1 in the morning to make your own pizza?

* Prank calling. No joke! One day, they had a girls night

out, where they kicked out all the guys to go play

sports. We literally hung out in the main lobby, at

midnight, while everyone was sleeping, and chatted

with the counselors. It got better though, it turned into

truth or dare. Lets just say we ended up prank calling

random staterooms, pretending to be staff members,

and more. Thats what makes the kids clubs fun. You never

whats going to pop out. Especially late at night!

You make really good friends on the ship.

I am still in contact with a really good friend I met

on the ship around a year and a half ago. We all

literally cried our last day on the ship.

2. Fun level, Extreme! It was the FAVORITE WEEK

OF MY LIFE! From one to ten....10!!!

3. Yes. Older kids can go. You register

before you get on the ship but they do not check your

age each time you go to the kids clubs. You just walk

right in. Thats why my little sister came in to the older

club with me.

4. They were pretty equal. I rarely spent time with my parents...

They were just so different. I had way more opportunities

in the kids clubs. My parents were mad that they never saw me.

Only at dinner because i was always with my friends. So i

compromised and agreed to watch a show with them

every night.

5. The ''Regular"

kids activites are:

*Guitar hero

*arts and crafts

*Karaoke

* the boat stimulator

*music

Extras include:

*Pizza parties opened just for you

*pool parties which they open the pool just for you

* Talent shows

* Hanging with your friends at the ports.

You can actually travel withthe kids club at ports

instead of your parents.

* Special kids breakfast lunch and dinner.

* Ice cream parties

*Pajama party for girls

*Girls night out

* battle of the sexes

*scavenger hunts all around the ship! (my favorite acitvity of all)

and more!
