Cheapest way to get to Bahamas from Florida?
Not getting on a plane, so is there any cheaper options than cruise (which is about $150 to $200)?
Well thats what Im saying, is there cheaper boats than cruises? Cruises are like real fancy versions of boats. Like smaller vessels or something.
The cheapest option is Discovery Cruiselines. They ONLY go to Freeport.. not to Nassau.
Besides Flying and by boat.. what other mode of transport is there to get to an island???
Discovery cruise is more like a ferry than a cruise.
Check them out. They leave 6 days a week from Fort Lauderdale.

3 Day cruise to Bahamas from Florida. Carnival or Royal Carribean?
We will be in Florida this summer for 9 days and we are planning on taking a 3 day Cruise To The Bahamas. Carnival and Carribean are the two lines that have a cruise. Which one should we take and why? She's in her early 50's, I'm in my late 40's. Neither of us have ever taken a cruise before.
Time after time Carnival is referred to as a "party ship", it always sounds as if there are nothing but a bunch of drunk people on these cruises.
I have sailed Carnival 4 times & have yet to see a "bunch of drunks" & alot of partying. I am in my mid 40's, drink socially & enjoy people in general.
The class of people on the Carnival cruises I went on were typically middle-class Americans. the 3 day cruise had people from all over the world. I met a couple from Japan, honeymooners from London, etc.
When I did a 4 day on Royal Caribbean, there were many people in my age group that were drunk by 11:00 a.m.
However I wouldn't judge that to be the same on every cruise.
I personally feel the Royal Caribbean ships are more upscale.
I know Carnival's staterooms are larger by about 20%, which I happen to like 
Carnival Facsination leaves on Fridays, returns on Mondays. You spend almost 24 hours in Nassau, which to me is great. You get a full day of sailing on Sunday & plenty of time to get to know Nassau.
RCI's Majesty of the Sea spends about 8 hours on their island, Coco Cay, which you will have to be tendered.
Following day, you have about 8 hours in Nassau.
So really, it depends what YOU want
If I am on a cruise, I am happy!
