6am flight from JFK to Bahamas. What time should I get to the airport?

I have a 6am flight with JetBlue from JFK to Nassau, Bahamas. Is it necessary to get to the airport 2-3 hours before for a flight so early?

Each year when I go to the Bahamas, I fly out of Chicago on the 6Am flight. It us packed and there are long lines to check in and go through security. It generally takes an hour or more, however it is better to schedule a minimum of 2 hours to ensure enough time so as to not miss your plane. Have fun.

Yes you need to get to the airport closer to 3 hours before your flight. JetBlue has the most flights out of JFK and a number of flights leave at 6:00 am to different destinations. Therefore the line at the check-in counter will be long and the line for security will be long as well. It is better to arrive early and walk around the terminal waiting for your flight than arrive later and having to sprint through the airport wondering if you will make your flight.
