whats the best / least expensive way to travel between st. maarten & st. thomas? what restaurants / sights do you recommend?

They are all wonderful. If you go to St Thomas, you can take a 20 minute ferry over to St John. You can also take a ferry over to the British Virgin islands. You can see several islands if you have the time.
St Maarten is the gourmet dining capital of the Caribbean. There is a ferry from St Maarten to Anguilla, Saba or St Barth's.
That is why I choose those two islands as the best. But they are all the best.

Cruise and Stay vacation (Nassau Bahamas)?
I am looking for a cruiseline or vacation package that allows for a hotel stay in Nassau...and then returns to departure port via cruise...
Any one know any good companies or websites that do these programs?

yes..i have seen the grand bahamas cruise...and its tempting..but we wanted to stay with friends in nassau for the few nights of "hotel stay" thanks though. 
You can take a three day cruise from Jacksonville, FL or from Port Canaveral, FL and possibly arrange to disembark at Nassau and them complete your cruise vacation on another date, but you'll have to make your plans directly with the cruise line. It might take back to back separate cruises linked by dates.
