Question about the Bahamas........?

I'm thinking about going to the Bahamas with my mom in the next couple years on the off season. I heard it is cheaper than Hawaii, but I've been checking around and the only really nice hotel seems to be Atlantis in Paradise Island. We want to stay somewhere nice that is close to a beach. Is there anywhere, preferably cheaper than Atlantis, that has nice hotels and nice beaches that you know of?

If you want beach -- and cheaper than the Altantis Resort complex -- look for the hotels & resorts that are on Cable Beach (2 miles west of Nassau); or Port Lucaya on Grand Bahama Island (near Freeport).
Also search for hotels on the "out-islands" of the Bahamas. You'll pay a bit more to get there, but the beaches are nicer.

What to do in the bahamas..... pls read?

me and my family are staying on all inclusive paradise island habour resort but there isnt much to see on that small hotel and its not even on a beach... do we have any other options is there any FREE close beaches pls help

There are a number of beaches, both private and free - just ask the hotel and they can point you in the right direction. If it's an all-inclusive resort, they may even have shuttles that regularly go to and from downtown or nearby beaches.

Also, if you're looking for a fun experience (not free!) I highly recommend the dolphin encounter at Blue Lagoon. I was not interested in doing it when we went, but since the others in my party were I did as well -- it ended up being a definite highlight of the trip!
