Spring time in Destin, FL is one of the best times to visit the area.  The temperatures are right around 80 degrees and the Gulf of Mexico is just warm enough to start swimming.  April and May are one of the busiest times in Destin because these months fall before hurricane season and offer great weather.  On any given day, you can walk the beach and see a number of events such as weddings and reunions happening.  There are many fun activities in April & May and hopefully this article will keep you from missing out on your next vacation.

If you're going with kids, there are a few things you don't want to miss out on.  Although the water park is not open yet, kids can enjoy activities such as fishing, kayaks, snorkeling, pottery painting, and dolphin tours.  Charter fishing is one of the most popular activities in Destin and is enjoyed by thousands of tourists each year.  Believe it or not, but Destin is actually home to one of the largest fishing fleets in state of Florida.  If your child is new to fishing, it is wise to start them out with a four or five hour trip.  Typically deep sea fishing runs about $50/person and includes bait, tackle and fishing licenses.  Private and group Charters are available online for booking.

For the average couple, the spring time offers opportunities to relax and indulge without the scorching heat and humidity.  Some popular activities include private sailing charters, dinner cruises and charter fishing.  Destin is also known for its shopping with two major malls.  The Destin Commons is an outdoor mall that includes major brands such as Bass Pro Shop, Abercrombie, Victoria Secret and Belk.  The Silver Sands Outlet Mall, which is just 7 miles east of the Destin Commons, is one of the largest outlets in the country with over 150 brand named stores.  The average person can literally spend an entire week shopping in Destin, but what fun would that be?

Cheapest time to purchase a cruise.?

Im looking for a Western Caribbiean Cruise for 4 adults. (All paying separate) for 7 days.

Check out www.vacationstogo.com for some deals.

You can search by departure port, month, cruise line ,etc.

You get a cheaper rate per person if you book the 4 person cabin. However, they cabins are very small and the bathrooms are even smaller than hotel rooms. Can the 4 of you share a room/bathroom without ending your friendship. Also, in the 4 person cabins, there are likely going to be upper and lower bunk type beds. Most adults don't dig sleeping in the upper bunks.

Remember, the price you see on most of the websites don't include port taxes and other fees. These can run up to $100 per person. Also, tipping is not "optional" on the Carnival line. They add this fee to your bill the moment you step on the ship. $10/per day/per person. $70 per person on a 7-day cruise.

Check out possible shuttle services. For example, there is a shuttle that picks you up at Hobby Airport in Houston and takes you to the Galveston cruise terminal.

Prices generally go down closer to the cruise date but you risk not being able to get a cabin if they sell out. We booked early this year since we are traveling during Spring Break week.

You can also saving money by booking your own excursions. You can research on the web or even just hop off the port in port and many of the indepent operators have booths or signs at the dock.

Bar drinks can run $4-12 each. Photos can run $10-20 each. Bingo, spa are extra.

Get a box of the XXL Ziploc bags that are about 3 foot tall for taking home yucky, sandy clothes.

If you want to control your spending on the cruise, place a cash deposit instead of using a credit card. The cruise will cut you off from charging once you have reached your deposit. You can add more cash money to your account later...but getting a $2,800.00 credit card bill at the end of the cruise can be a shocker since Carnival makes it so easy to Sign N Sail....

Take US Dollars in 5 and 10s when shopping in the Mexican markets. It is ok to bargain. If the vendor asks for $50, offer $30.

5's are good to have went using local taxis.

Don't book your return flight home too early. De-barkation can be a hassle. Last cruise, we were 2 hours late getting to port because of a storm.

Don't pack too much luggage...you still have to carry it through customs.

Is it safe for gay people to travel to the Bahamas?

We are staying at a major hotel-resort in Nassau. Thanks!

Yes, but I would keep the PDA's down to a minimum. The bahamas is a christian community, and quite homophobic.

I'm not saying you have to hide, just don't be insensitive to the beliefs of others.

There is a "thug" element at some local clubs that are quite intolerant. So stick with the hotel resort clubs for partying.

Can I travel to the Bahamas while on probations without my probation officer knowing?

I want to know can i goto the Bahamas for 3 days and come back without probation knowing as long as i dont get in any trouble. I got a last minute opportunity to go for a few days and am thinking of going but the only catch is that it is short notice and i will not have the 60 days required to get permisson. I am probation for grand larceny and have no violations or re-arrest since being on probation if that information helps. Anyone with any knowledge on this, please let me know because i would really like to go but i dont wanna set myself up...thanks

Finding your discount at the beginning of the promotion is also advantageous as you can first chose the right cabin, choose the perfect location to unwind and a mind set that after some time you will already be sailing. Last minute Cruise Deals on the other hand, will allow you to have the discount you will need and at most time, there are a lot of great savings. The only bad side to it is that, you do not have control over their schedule and yours. Once the cruise ship gives you the notice and the time of its sailing, then you will have to book and board them after.

A four day cruise for the honeymoon?

I know this isn't exactly about weddings...its about the honeymoon. But I figured I'd ask it here since you ladies (and gentlemen) are usually pretty helpful.

Yes, that is definitely worth it. For 100 dollars per person per night, you get unlimited amounts of food and entertainment, people waiting on you hand and foot, etc. Also, if you mention you are newlyweds some cruise waitstaff or entertainers will do special things for you!

I would definitely spend 400-500 on a cruise.

Shore excursions can get expensive, but in most Caribbean locations, there is usually an option for a "day at the beach" which will be very cheap.

Cruising is my kind of trip--5 Star accomodations and stuff to do at night, but relaxing days on the beach.
