Help us with this honeymoon decision?
Hi, thanks for reading.
My fiance and I won tickets to an all-inclusive resort. We did the thing where you listen to a sales pitch and get a prize.
We can choose between a few different resorts in Mexico, the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic, and we ruled out Mexico ... so we'd like to know, between DR and the Bahamas, which is best?
In the Bahamas, our choices are Fortuna Beach, and in DR, it's either La Romana or Cabarete.
The resorts themselves look about the same, quality-wise, and we've been reading tripadvisor and other websites with people's reviews. But as far as just the islands themselves, which would you prefer or recommend, and why?
Thanks!
LOL ... Please don't say Mexico, we already ruled that out. Our choices are Bahamas or DR.
We won't be going until June of 2009, so hopefully the recent hurricanes will be cleaned up (and no new ones have hit)!
Just went to an all-inclusive in the Dominican and LOVED it. I highly reccomend this choice. Why- It seems to be more "up and coming" and was centered more around a younger crowd. The beaches were beautiful, the staff was friendly, and the drinks were strong! They had the best pineapple I've ever eaten!!!!
I know that you've "ruled out" Mexico... but please do consider hurricane season! My wedding is on Oct. 4... and we will be honeymooning the week after. We had to choose a location oustide of the Gulf... that means no Jamacia, no DR, no Cancun, no Bahamas.... so we chose Puerto Vallarta. It will be interesting to see how it is! My hopes are high! Either way, it will be much better than riding out a hurricane.

I'm going to Cuba, but I'm not sure which hotel, can you help?
It is my second Caribbean holiday, after Cancun and The Bahamas, I need somewhere to match them. I am going with First Choice, and I have narrowed my options down to 2.

We are a family of 4 with 2 under sixteens. We prefer a relaxing beach holiday.
We are definatly going with First Choice, as we have flown with them 3 times before and they were perfect.
I do use TripAdvisor, but the comments are very similar for both hotels.
Has anyone been to either hotel, or to Cuba? Which hotel would you say is best? Your opinions please...
Been to Cuba 3 times, just got back last week from our latest holiday there, we love Cuba, its not every ones cup of tea as it is a poor country and the meals in the hotels do tend to be a bit repetitive even though its nice food, there are no fast food joints in Cuba so if that's what you tend to like I wouldn't recommend it, sorry not been to either of the hotels you have mentioned but as long as you plump for a 4 star hotel you should be fine, what you have to remember is 4 star in Cuba is 3 star anywhere else, the beaches and ocean are to die for, absolutely amazing and like warm bath tub water, we have done the Cayos and Varadero so I can recommend both of those places, Varadero would be better for your family as there is more to do for kids there, just go with a very open mind, the Cubans are beautiful friendly people who go out of their way to make your holiday better for you, it cheap so you need very little spending money unless you want to do lots of trips, we always travel with First Choice ourselves and have never had any problem with them, have a great time.
