Planning honeymoon cruise in January... clothing?



We are planning to take our honeymoon on a cruise that leaves out of Baltimore goes to Port Canaveral, then hits Nassau and Freeport. I kind of figure that the Bahamas will be warm and sunny, maybe not HOT. We are hoping to go to Universal Studios in FLA...

Any one have experience in the area. How should we dress to be outside at Universal all day? And does anyone know what it's going to be like at sea in these areas during this time? Just looking for some hints on what to pack and to expect weather-wise.

Sailing in January is generally very rough. Did you book this through a travel agent because they should have explained that to you if you did. If you didn't book through a travel agent this is why it's always good to do so.

January is the roughest month to travel by sea so it so make sure to bring Dramamine (the medicine you can get to help with sea sickness).

Port Canaveral is about 45 minutes from Orlando and the theme parks so you won't be able to spend the entire day at Universal because you'll have to factor in at least 2 hours of travel time to and from, just to be safe. You'll only have around 7-9 hours off the ship that day, so expect to only be able to spend 5-7 of them at the theme park. Generally the ship docks in the early morning and you'll be off by 8am if you're an early riser and eat before 8am. Then you'll have to be back to the ship before it leaves (usually around 4 or 5pm).

Pack lots of different clothes because temperatures will change a lot. It will be windy on the ship, and chilly outdoors when you're sailing, so bring warm changes of clothes. You'll need to pack some warm clothes too, for the Bahamas, but Florida will still be chilly in the winter, especially if this winter is anything like the past winter we had. Again, bring lots of different changes of clothes and be prepared for all types of weather because right now with the way these seasons have been going, anything could happen next winter.

Also, make sure to pack a very nice outfit. All cruises have a "formal nights" so you'll need a nice dress or outfit to wear to dinner that night.

This is a cruise, I was there in july, packed all shorts, tanks and swimwear for the shore and that was perfect. this is the 1st time I'm going in a winter month, but hoping the weather is still similar. WOULD ALSO LIKE TO KNOW: what kind of weather to expect in florida (port canavral/orlando) that time of year. this is where the boat leaves. The average temperature in Nassau in december is a high of 78 and the average low is 63...so just pack accordingly. Orlando temps are very similar..have fun:)
